Draper and Kramer Appoints Craig Robinson and Donald Huffner to Board of Directors

CHICAGO — Draper and Kramer, the Chicago-based national real estate firm, announced July 24 that it has appointed Donald Huffner and Craig Robinson as independent members of its board of directors.
The two executives join a board that also includes representatives from the company's family ownership and its chief executive officer. Draper and Kramer, founded in 1893 and one of the larger privately held real estate services firms in the United States, operates across residential and commercial development, acquisition, property management and leasing, and debt and equity financing for commercial properties.
The Appointments
Todd Bancroft, president and CEO of Draper and Kramer, said the firm values independent board members whose expertise aligns with its capabilities and who can offer broader business perspective.
"As a family-owned firm, we especially value the counsel of our independent board members who not only have expertise that aligns with our own firm's capabilities spanning real estate investment, management, development and finance, but also broad business perspective that helps inform our strategic direction," Bancroft said. "Both Donald and Craig are highly respected in the industry, and we know they will contribute valuable insight as members of our board."
Craig Robinson: Proptech, Single-Family Rental and Business Transformation
Craig Robinson brings to the Draper and Kramer board a career that spans executive roles, corporate board positions, and advisory work focused on real estate business services and technology-enabled platforms.
Robinson currently serves as an independent board director for Lessen, a property services company based in Scottsdale, Ariz.; Roofstock, an Oakland, Calif.-based platform focused on the single-family rental market; and Second Nature, a property management software company headquartered in Raleigh, N.C. He also serves as a strategic advisor to Dunes Point Capital, a private investment firm in Rye, N.Y., and to a number of early-stage companies operating in the sustainability, construction and data analytics sectors.
Robinson is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
His board work at Lessen and Second Nature connects to a broader shift in commercial real estate toward technology-integrated property operations and data-driven asset management. His involvement with Roofstock reflects continued institutional interest in single-family rental as a residential investment category. The announcement notes that Robinson has deep experience in "driving company growth and leading business transformation," areas of increasing relevance as real estate firms move toward integrated service platforms and fee-based income streams.
Donald Huffner: Institutional Capital, Multifamily and Private Ownership Experience
Donald Huffner joins the Draper and Kramer board following a career that has included leadership roles at both private legacy real estate platforms and large institutional investment operations.
Most recently, Huffner served as CEO and president of James Campbell Company, a private Hawaii-based real estate firm. Prior to that role, he was president and CEO of The Collier Companies in Naples, Fla., and served as senior managing director and head of North America investments at AIG Global Real Estate in New York. He holds degrees in accounting and finance from the University of Cincinnati.
Huffner has served as chairman of the Urban Land Institute's Multifamily Platinum Council and as a member of the University of Cincinnati's Board of Executive Advisors in Real Estate.
His background at James Campbell Company and Collier Enterprises — both private, multi-generational capital platforms — is directly transferable to Draper and Kramer's family-owned governance structure. His institutional investment experience at AIG Global Real Estate adds perspective on large, diversified portfolio management across multiple real estate cycles. His ULI multifamily leadership is relevant as the U.S. multifamily sector continues to see steady demand, even as new supply deliveries remain elevated nationally.
Governance Context and Market Backdrop
The appointments come as U.S. commercial real estate markets are navigating a transitional period. Office leasing activity has been recovering, with annual leasing expected to surpass 2019 levels, though the market remains bifurcated between well-located, amenitized assets and commodity office stock. Multifamily fundamentals remain among the stronger segments of commercial real estate, with absorption running above long-term norms even as new completions stay high. Capital markets have grown more disciplined, with lenders and investors placing greater emphasis on durable cash flows and proven operators.
For a firm like Draper and Kramer — which spans investment, development, property management and debt and equity placement — independent directors with experience in institutional capital structuring, technology-enabled operations, and business transformation address several of those concurrent pressures simultaneously.
Draper and Kramer is headquartered in Chicago and provides real estate services to a client base that includes corporations, private and institutional owners and users of real estate, government agencies, and foundations.
