AUSTIN, Texas — Greystar, a global real estate investment management, development, and property management firm headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina, announced May 6 that it has reached financial close and begun construction on Law School Village, a new student housing community at the University of Texas at Austin. The project represents the university's first dedicated housing for law students.

Located directly across the street from the UT Austin School of Law, Law School Village will offer 340 apartment beds across 280 studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units in a 14-story building. The project is expected to be completed in time for the 2028-29 academic year.

Project Details and Amenities

The development will feature a library-style sky-lounge, a café, fitness and yoga area, an expansive courtyard, future coffee shop retail space, and two roof decks overlooking the UT Austin campus and downtown Austin. Lemmo Architecture and Design is serving as the project's design architect, with Meeks + Partners as the architect of record.

Under the structure of the public-private partnership, the University of Texas at Austin is fully financing the project. Greystar is serving as third-party developer, general contractor, and facility manager. Financial terms of the arrangement were not disclosed.

"Greystar is thrilled to kick off this partnership with UT Austin," said Derek Brown, Senior Managing Director of Development at Greystar. "Texas Law is one of the nation's premier law schools, and having dedicated, proximate, and affordable housing for law students makes it an even more attractive destination."

Greystar's On-Campus Development Activity

Law School Village is the eighth on-campus partnership closed by Greystar in the last 12 months, according to the firm. The project will also be Greystar's second high-rise student housing community and 21st project overall in Austin.

Nationally, Greystar Construction is responsible for approximately $2 billion in student housing. The firm's ongoing on-campus projects include partnerships at the University of Mississippi and the University of Washington.
