JLL Wins Facilities Management Contract for Airbus' 4.3-Million-SF U.S. Industrial and Office Portfolio
CHICAGO — May 20, 2026 — JLL announced it has been selected by Airbus to provide facilities management (FM) services across a 4.3-million-square-foot U.S. real estate portfolio that includes both corporate headquarters and industrial manufacturing facilities, the firm said Tuesday.
The contract expands an existing relationship between the two companies. JLL's Aviation group will continue managing a 1.2-million-square-foot, 17-building portfolio that includes Airbus' corporate headquarters in Herndon, Virginia, while adding a new 30-building manufacturing campus totaling 3.1 million square feet in Mobile, Alabama. Services under the agreement include HVAC, electrical and plumbing maintenance, among others.
Expanding an Established Partnership
The new contract more than doubles the square footage JLL manages for Airbus. JLL and Airbus previously collaborated on leasing advisory work in addition to the existing facilities management services at the Herndon headquarters portfolio.
The JLL account team includes Aviation group leader and Managing Director Koley MacKay, Account Director Winnie Buchanan, and Work Dynamics Principal Michael Colligan, with Solutions Development providing support. Leasing advisory work has been led by Vice Chairman Jeff Grohl and Senior Managing Director Michael Blyumin.
"JLL is committed to transforming aviation standards through improved operational efficiency and comprehensive facilities management services that adapt to Airbus' evolving needs," MacKay said in a statement. "We're honored that Airbus has chosen to continue our partnership and has more than doubled the square footage under our management, which is a significant expansion of their trust in our services."
Meaghan Elwell, Division President – Global Industrials at JLL, emphasized the operational stakes involved in aerospace FM work. "Facilities management is mission-critical in aerospace and aviation, where operational continuity, safety and precision are non-negotiable," Elwell said. "Our ability to maintain complex manufacturing environments and support advanced aerospace operations enables our clients to focus on innovation and excellence in their core business."
Manufacturing Campus and Industrial Real Estate Context
The Mobile, Alabama manufacturing campus — at 3.1 million square feet across 30 buildings — represents the bulk of the newly expanded mandate. JLL's Industrials division covers the full real estate lifecycle for manufacturing, automotive, energy, logistics, and aviation clients, including production facilities, assembly plants, warehouses, distribution centers, airports, cargo facilities, and specialized industrial operations.
JLL has noted in related announcements that it recently formed a dedicated Advanced Manufacturing group and named a new Head of Energy & Logistics for its Work Dynamics division. JLL's own research has also flagged a critical skilled trades shortage with potential economic losses reaching $1 trillion.
Office Real Estate Context: The Herndon HQ Portfolio
The 1.2-million-square-foot Herndon, Virginia headquarters portfolio — spanning 17 buildings — represents the office real estate component of the expanded contract. JLL's Aviation group had already been providing FM services for this portfolio prior to the new agreement.
