MINNEAPOLIS — NorthMarq today announced the promotion of Jeffrey Erxleben to president of Capital Markets, effective immediately, placing him at the helm of the firm's national debt, equity, and investment sales platforms, the company said March 19, 2026.

Erxleben, who has spent 23 years at Northmarq, most recently served as president of the firm's Debt & Equity platform, which spans more than 50 offices across the United States. As a member of the executive committee, he will continue to shape the company's strategic direction while leading initiatives that integrate capital markets capabilities and align the firm's lending, capital placement, and investment sales businesses.

Expanded Leadership Role at Northmarq

In his new capacity, Erxleben will oversee a broader mandate that brings together Northmarq's debt, equity, and investment sales operations under unified leadership. The move reflects the firm's stated goal of delivering more integrated commercial real estate financing solutions to clients across property types.

"We are pleased to elevate such a dynamic, forward-thinking leader to this critical role," said Jeffrey Weidell, chief executive officer of Northmarq. "Under Jeff's leadership, our investment sales, debt and equity platforms will persist in growth, while we further integrate sales and finance in capital markets. He will play a pivotal role in expanding both business lines and deepening our relationships with key market participants."

Erxleben's Background in Commercial Real Estate Financing

Erxleben has extensive experience advising clients on joint venture equity, structured finance, and core debt strategies. He has developed deep capital relationships through prior service on Fannie Mae's Originator Subcommittee and Freddie Mac's Seller/Servicer Advisory Board, as well as advisory roles with several correspondent life companies.

He is a past chair of the Mortgage Bankers Association Originator Council and remains an active member of the National Multifamily Housing Council. Erxleben is a graduate of Southern Methodist University, where he is actively involved in the Folsom Institute for Real Estate and SMU's Life After Ball program.
