Williams Acquires Iconic 1.4 Million-SF Williams Tower in Houston from Invesco, CBRE and Eastdil Secured Advise

Energy infrastructure company Williams Equities has acquired Williams Tower, a 64-story, 1.4 million-square-foot Class A office building at 2800 Post Oak Blvd. in Houston's Galleria/Uptown District, converting its long-held tenancy into full ownership of one of the city's most recognized office properties. CBRE represented Williams in the transaction, while Eastdil Secured advised seller Invesco. Sale price was undisclosed.
Deal Structure and Advisors
CBRE's Rich Pancioli and Patrick Benoist represented Williams in the acquisition. Eastdil Secured represented Invesco Real Estate on the sell side. Williams will occupy approximately 360,000 square feet of the building as its Houston headquarters, making it a large owner-occupier within a multi-tenant tower that continues to host a number of prominent tenants.
CBRE's Rima Soroka and Nina Seyyedin, who represented prior ownership in leasing activities and worked on Williams' 2025 expansion and renewal at the property, will continue to lead leasing efforts at Williams Tower on behalf of the new ownership.
"Williams has demonstrated its long-term commitment to this asset through a series of strategic real estate decisions, including the expansion and renewal of its headquarters occupancy and now the acquisition of the building," said Rich Pancioli, Executive Vice President at CBRE. "This transaction allows the company to align its real estate strategy with its long-term business objectives while securing control of one of Houston's most recognizable office properties."
Williams' Four-Decade Relationship with the Tower
Williams has maintained a presence in Williams Tower for more than 40 years, making the building a long-standing anchor of the company's Houston operations. In fall 2025, Williams expanded and renewed its occupancy at the property, a move that signaled a deepening commitment to the building and the Houston market ahead of the acquisition. CBRE described the purchase as a natural progression of that strategy, providing Williams with long-term control of an asset that serves as its Houston headquarters.
The 64-story tower is located in the heart of Houston's Galleria/Uptown District at 2800 Post Oak Blvd. Building amenities include a conference center, multiple dining options, and a fully staffed fitness facility. The property is within walking distance of extensive retail and restaurant offerings in the Galleria area.
Owner-Occupier Strategy in a Shifting Office Market
The transaction reflects a broader pattern in U.S. office markets, where major tenants with long-term operational commitments have moved to acquire their headquarters buildings as institutional owners rebalance portfolios away from office. For Williams, ownership secures long-term control over mission-critical space and reduces exposure to future rent escalations. Invesco Real Estate's disposition of the asset is consistent with institutional capital recycling out of office holdings.
Williams Tower's position in Houston's Galleria/Uptown submarket — one of the city's most amenitized business districts — adds a talent attraction and client-facing dimension to the ownership rationale. The building has long been considered an icon of the Houston skyline, and Williams' decision to expand and renew its lease in 2025 before proceeding with the acquisition indicates the company had established conviction on both the location and the asset prior to the purchase.
Leasing Continuity Under New Ownership
With CBRE's Rima Soroka and Nina Seyyedin continuing to lead leasing at Williams Tower, the property's leasing program is expected to maintain continuity under Williams' ownership. The tower's multi-tenant structure means that leasing activity for the remaining space will remain an ongoing priority for the new owner.
CBRE announced the transaction on July 24, 2026.
