Barnes & Noble Signs 11,300 SF Retail Lease at Steiner East Village, RIPCO Real Estate Represents Ownership
NEW YORK — Barnes & Noble, Inc. has signed an 11,300 square-foot retail lease at 181 Avenue A, the condominium development known as Steiner East Village, located at the corner of Avenue A and East 11th Street in Manhattan's East Village. The store is expected to open in November, according to RIPCO Real Estate, which represented retail ownership in the transaction.
Deal Details at Steiner East Village
The lease marks a significant addition to the ground-floor retail component of Steiner East Village, an 82-unit condominium building that was among the top-selling new developments in 2018. The building features a residents' lounge, fitness center, swimming pool, and rooftop terrace.
Financial terms of the lease, including rent and lease duration, were not disclosed.
Douglas Steiner, chairman of Steiner, commented on the signing in remarks reported by Commercial Observer: "It was worth the wait. They're a great retailer, it's a fantastic use. We're thrilled."
Jason Pennington and Benjamin Weiner of RIPCO Real Estate represented retail ownership in the deal.
RIPCO Real Estate's Role in the Transaction
RIPCO Real Estate, a New York-based commercial brokerage, facilitated the lease on behalf of the landlord.
The Barnes & Noble signing at Steiner East Village is among several recent retail transactions announced by RIPCO Real Estate. The firm also recently announced that Marshalls opened at Liberty Brooklyn in Sunset Park, and was recognized as a top-five largest commercial real estate brokerage in New York, according to separate announcements on the firm's website.
