Blue Owl and Moor Park Capital Partners Complete Acquisition of 12-Hospital Spire Healthcare Portfolio in the UK
Funds managed by Blue Owl Capital Inc. (NYSE: OWL), together with Moor Park Capital Partners, have completed the acquisition of a portfolio of 12 acute-care hospitals operated by Spire Healthcare Group plc, the companies announced July 8. The transaction was financed through a new secured term loan, with Standard Chartered, Natixis and Crédit Agricole CIB acting as joint Mandated Lead Arrangers and lenders.
Deal Overview: 12 Acute-Care Hospitals and a Net Lease Structure
The portfolio consists of 12 acute-care hospitals across the United Kingdom, all operated by Spire Healthcare Group plc, which the announcement describes as the UK's leading private hospital operator. The acquisition adds a significant block of healthcare real estate to Blue Owl's Real Assets platform, which the firm has been expanding in Europe.
The transaction is structured as a net lease investment, with Spire Healthcare remaining as the long-term tenant across the portfolio. Blue Owl said the deal features "well-structured long-term leases" with a market-leading tenant, characteristics that align with the firm's broader European Net Lease strategy. Financial terms, including the purchase price, loan amount, cap rate, and individual hospital addresses, were not disclosed.
"The acquisition of the Spire portfolio represents a strategic investment in a portfolio of high-quality UK private hospitals with a market leading tenant, well-structured long-term leases and significantly accelerates the expansion of our European Net Lease strategy," said Marc Zahr, Co-President and Global Head of Real Assets at Blue Owl. "This transaction builds on the firm's experience investing across the healthcare landscape and represents an opportunity to capitalize on the strong supply and demand fundamentals in the European healthcare real estate sector while delivering what we believe to be compelling value for investors and the communities these facilities serve."
Blue Owl's Real Assets Platform and European Expansion
Blue Owl reported $315 billion in assets under management as of March 31, 2026, across three multi-strategy platforms: Credit, Real Assets and GP Strategic Capital. The firm said the Spire portfolio acquisition marks an important milestone for its Real Assets platform and reflects its continued focus on essential real estate sectors.
Blue Owl and Moor Park Capital Partners said they see further growth opportunities in the European healthcare sector and intend to continue pursuing investments in the space. The specific hospital names and locations were not identified in the announcement.
