CHICAGO — Draper and Kramer, a national full-service real estate firm, announced Feb. 20 that Tim Kramer, vice president and director of operations, management services, has been named the 2027 Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) secretary/treasurer nominee. The nomination, subject to formal election by IREM's Governing Council later this year, would place Kramer on a leadership track extending through 2031.

If elected, Kramer is slated to serve as IREM secretary/treasurer in 2027, with the nomination also putting him in line to serve as secretary/treasurer in 2028, president-elect in 2029, president in 2030, and immediate past president in 2031, according to the firm's announcement.

Leadership Role at Draper and Kramer

Kramer, the great-grandson of Draper and Kramer co-founder Anthony Kramer, currently leads operations across the firm's national multifamily real estate portfolio, which includes more than 5,000 units under management in Chicago, St. Louis, Dallas, Austin, Phoenix, and Denver. He joined the Chicago-based firm in 1993 as a leasing consultant and subsequently held roles as property manager and property operations specialist before being promoted to his current position in spring 2019.

He holds IREM's Certified Property Manager (CPM) and Accredited Residential Manager (ARM) designations.

"IREM has long been considered the standard-bearer for best practices in this industry, so we have always been incredibly proud of Tim's deep commitment to the organization and furthering its efforts to provide education, networking and knowledge-sharing for real estate management professionals," said Julie Stevlingson, senior vice president and director of management services at Draper and Kramer. "We know from the thoughtful expertise and vast knowledge of property management he brings to his work at Draper and Kramer every day that he is an ideal choice to be part of the national leadership team that guides IREM as the voice of the industry."

Extensive IREM Involvement

Kramer's 30-year career in multifamily property management has included sustained involvement with IREM at multiple levels. His prior roles with the organization include serving as a national director, international instructor, and Governing Council member, as well as participation on the ethics inquiry panel, ethics hearing and discipline panel, ethics committee, and the former Real Estate Management Excellence Awards advisory board.

Formal election by the Governing Council is expected later in 2026.

Additional Industry Leadership

Alongside the IREM nomination, Kramer was recently appointed president of the Apartment Building Owners and Managers Association (ABOMA), a nonprofit representing ownership and management of more than 500 multifamily member buildings in the Chicago area. He is also an Ely Chapter member of Lambda Alpha International, a global land economics society.

Firm Background

Draper and Kramer, headquartered in Chicago, holds the Accredited Management Organization (AMO) designation from IREM.

The Governing Council's formal vote on Kramer's nomination is expected to take place later in 2026.
