Gordon Brothers Acquires Keen Real Estate Services Business From Keen-Summit Capital Partners
Gordon Brothers, the global asset experts, has acquired the Keen business from Keen-Summit Capital Partners, adding a real estate team that specializes in complex brokerage and auction services, lease restructuring, fiduciary services, capital raising and related strategic advisory work, the firm announced Oct. 16, 2026.
Gordon Brothers said the acquisition strengthens its ability to deliver real estate solutions across the full lifecycle of a project. The firm said it will combine its scale, capital resources and asset expertise with Keen's capabilities and industry relationships to support owners, investors, lenders and corporate occupiers with integrated solutions spanning strategy and planning, capital solutions and transaction execution.
Keen Team Brings Restructuring and Auction Experience to Gordon Brothers
The Keen team has more than four decades of experience navigating complex transactions across a range of market environments, according to the announcement. Keen has advised on real estate engagements involving nationally recognized companies, including Red Lobster, True Value, Hooters and Alamo Drafthouse Cinema.
The acquired business adds brokerage, auction, lease restructuring, fiduciary and capital-raising services to Gordon Brothers' existing financing, asset advisory and trading platform. Those services are relevant when companies are restructuring, liquidating assets or changing their real estate footprint.
Executive Comments: Al Williams and Matthew Bordwin
"Our clients are seeking experienced advisors who can provide strategic guidance and practical solutions across every stage of the real estate lifecycle," said Al Williams, Co-Head of North America Real Estate Services at Gordon Brothers. "By bringing together Gordon Brothers' global platform, capital capabilities and asset expertise with Keen's highly respected advisory team and longstanding industry relationships, we are expanding our ability to deliver exceptional outcomes and create value for clients across property types and across geographies."
Matthew Bordwin, Senior Managing Director, Real Estate Services at Gordon Brothers, said joining the firm represents an opportunity for the team and its clients. "The firm's global reach, comprehensive capabilities and reputation for delivering innovative solutions make it an ideal fit for our business," Bordwin said. "Together, we will be able to offer clients an even broader range of services, resources and expertise while continuing to provide the trusted advisory support they have come to expect from Keen."
Market Context: Corporate Occupiers and Lease Obligations
The deal comes as corporate occupiers increasingly seek help with lease obligations, disposition strategies and capital access, rather than only conventional property sales. Keen's restructuring and auction capabilities complement Gordon Brothers' lending and asset-valuation businesses, allowing the firm to pursue assignments in which real estate, operating assets and financing needs are intertwined.
The sectors reflected in Keen's prior work, including restaurants, retail and entertainment, typically operate large, geographically dispersed portfolios. Those companies can face substantial occupancy costs during bankruptcy, refinancing, ownership changes or cost-cutting programs. A platform that combines lease restructuring, brokerage, auctions and financing can handle more of that workflow within a single adviser.
Gordon Brothers is positioning the acquisition as a full-lifecycle real estate platform. The combined business competes less directly with traditional investment-sales brokerage and more with specialized advisers handling distressed, transitional or operationally complex real estate. Relevant assignments include corporate restructurings involving leased locations, retail and restaurant portfolio rationalizations, auction and disposition mandates, lender-directed property sales, lease renegotiations and exits, capital raises tied to real estate or operating assets, and fiduciary and court-supervised assignments.
