Earlier in his career, Diwan held senior technical leadership roles at Northern Trust, where his responsibilities spanned product management, data science, client implementations, and digital solutions. The firm said he has extensive experience scaling global teams, modernizing technology platforms, and partnering with business leaders to support growth and operational excellence.

He also holds a Chief Data Officer certification from Carnegie Mellon University and a Chief AI Officer certification from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Context: Heitman's Recent Activity

The appointment comes as Heitman has been active across its investment platform. In January 2026, the firm announced the final close of Heitman Value Partners Fund VI, with $2 billion in commitments — exceeding its $1.75 billion target and reaching the fund's hard cap — making it the firm's largest closed-end fundraise to date. Investors also committed an additional $620 million in co-investment capital. Combined with estimated leverage, the firm said the fund should provide approximately $6.55 billion in deployable capital.

In January 2026, Heitman acquired a nine-asset residential portfolio in Fukuoka, Japan, and the Tosu Central Distribution Center, which the firm described as the largest single-asset logistics transaction of its kind in the region. In February 2026, Heitman and Erben announced a joint acquisition of a site in Perth, Australia, to be developed into what the firms described as Western Australia's largest purpose-built student accommodation asset in the Perth CBD.

The firm also closed an $806 million real estate debt fund in early 2025, exceeding its $600 million fundraising goal, and acquired an industrial warehouse asset in Norfolk, Virginia, comprising more than 300,000 square feet.
