WHIPPANY, N.J., April 2, 2026MetLife Investment Management (MIM), the institutional asset management business of MetLife, Inc. (NYSE: MET), has appointed Andrea Drasites as global head of Real Estate and Agricultural Finance, the firm announced Wednesday. Drasites will assume the role effective Oct. 1, 2026, reporting directly to Brian Funk, president of MIM.

The appointment places Drasites at the helm of a commercial mortgage, equity real estate, and agricultural investments portfolio that represented $108.9 billion in gross assets under management as of Dec. 31, 2025. The hire comes as MIM moves to expand its global capabilities following its December 2025 acquisition of PineBridge Investments, a transaction that brought the combined firm's total assets under management to $741.7 billion.

Leadership Transition

Drasites succeeds Robert Merck, who retired in 2025 following a 40-year career with the firm. She joins MIM from Blackstone, where she held several leadership positions over 13 years, most recently serving as senior managing director in the Real Estate Group. Prior to Blackstone, she held senior roles at Equity One, Inc. and Woolbright Development.

"We are excited to bring on board Andrea's significant expertise in real estate and extensive leadership experience," Funk said in a statement. "She is well positioned to lead our real estate team as we continue to accelerate growth and further scale our global capabilities for clients following the acquisition of PineBridge Investments."

Drasites holds a Bachelor of Arts in international business from Rollins College and an M.B.A. with honors from the University of Florida.

"I'm thrilled to be joining MIM at such a pivotal moment and look forward to working with the team to build on the platform's success and leverage the firm's scale to drive even more opportunities for clients worldwide," Drasites said.

MetLife Investment Management's Expanded Platform

The leadership change follows a period of significant corporate activity at MetLife Investment Management. In December 2025, MIM completed its acquisition of PineBridge Investments, combining MIM's institutional scale with PineBridge's global footprint and specialized investment capabilities. The combined platform manages $741.7 billion in total assets under management across public fixed income, private fixed income, real estate, equity, alternatives, multi-asset, and insurance solutions.

MIM's real estate and agricultural finance portfolio — which Drasites will oversee — spans commercial mortgage lending and equity real estate investments in addition to agricultural assets.
