Trumark Homes, a Western U.S. homebuilder backed by Daiwa House, announced March 20, 2026, that it has acquired Washington-based homebuilder JK Monarch, establishing a new Washington Division and marking the company's first entry into the Pacific Northwest residential market.

The acquisition adds JK Monarch's active home communities in Puyallup, Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Bonney Lake, Lakewood, and Enumclaw to Trumark's existing operations in Northern, Central, and Southern California and Colorado — bringing the company to five total divisions. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Strategic Push Into the Pacific Northwest

Trumark co-founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer Gregg Nelson said the move reflects years of deliberate planning. "We have targeted expansion into the Pacific Northwest for years, and with this acquisition of JK Monarch we can capitalize on the strength of this market," Nelson said.

Co-founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer Michael Maples described the transaction as a milestone in the company's broader growth trajectory. "Our strategic growth into the Washington market is an important milestone for Trumark Homes, both historically and as a nod to where our company is headed," Maples said. "By combining our operational infrastructure and resources with JK Monarch's deep market knowledge and regional relationships, we aim to become one of the top homebuilders in the region."

JK Monarch: A Regionally Recognized Washington Homebuilder

JK Monarch was founded in 2011 by industry veteran Jonathan Bartels and has earned recognition as Homebuilder of the Year in Washington state on multiple occasions. The company operates across the Puget Sound and Tri-Cities areas, with current active developments spanning Puyallup, Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Bonney Lake, Lakewood, and Enumclaw.

Bartels cited Trumark's culture and values as central to his decision to pursue the transaction. "What attracted me to Trumark Homes was the leadership, company values and culture, commitment to excellence and dedication to customer satisfaction," Bartels said. "I am excited about the opportunity this provides our team members and trade partners."

Trumark said it anticipates integrating the broader JK Monarch team into the organization as part of the transition, with the existing leadership team playing an integral role in establishing and guiding the new Washington Division. Bartels will serve in an advisory capacity during the transition period. JTW Advisors served as exclusive financial advisor to JK Monarch on the transaction.

M&A Growth Backed by Daiwa House

John Willsie, Chief Administrative Officer leading mergers and acquisitions for Trumark, said the two companies share foundational values. "There is great symmetry between our companies, from our culture, shared values and people-first approach to the foundational commitment to building high quality homes and ensuring our homebuyers have an unparalleled experience," Willsie said.

The JK Monarch acquisition is the latest in a series of M&A milestones for Trumark. The company organically launched its Colorado Division in 2021, acquired Central California homebuilder Wathen Castanos Homes in 2023, and acquired Icon Lending in 2024. With the financial support of Daiwa House, the company has grown from a two-division California operator to a regional platform generating approximately $1 billion in annual revenue over the past two years, according to the company.

With the Washington Division now established, Trumark enters the Puget Sound market and will compete alongside established national builders and local operators in communities stretching from the greater Tacoma area to the Tri-Cities region. The Washington Division will leverage JK Monarch's existing regional relationships and land pipeline while drawing on Trumark's operational infrastructure.
