AirTrunk Triples Tokyo Office Space in Roppongi Hills Amid Japan Data Center Growth

Tokyo, JapanAirTrunk, a hyperscale data center specialist operating across Asia Pacific and the Middle East, has opened a new Japan headquarters in the Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, tripling the size of its previous Tokyo office. The move marks a significant milestone in the company’s expansion within Japan’s growing digital economy.

Office Expansion in Roppongi Hills

The new headquarters, located on Level 43 of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, is designed to accommodate AirTrunk’s expanding team. The office includes multipurpose collaboration zones and offers panoramic views of Tokyo, including Mount Fuji and Tokyo Tower. According to the company, the space was purpose-built to support innovation and team growth.

AirTrunk Country Head for Japan, Nori Matsushita, said the company’s local team has grown substantially since 2020. “By investing in our people and capabilities, we’re ensuring we can deliver on our customers’ ambitions,” Matsushita said in a statement. “With our expanded headquarters and high-performing team, we’re positioned to meet unprecedented customer demand for hyperscale infrastructure.”

Investment and Sustainability

AirTrunk has invested about US$1.57 billion (JPY244 billion) across its three Japanese campuses — TOK1, TOK2 and OSK1 — and plans to invest approximately US$8 billion (JPY1.2 trillion) over the coming years to complete these campuses and support future growth. The company’s sustainability initiatives include Japan’s first green loan for a data center, financing the TOK2 project, a target of 24/7 carbon-free operations, and alignment with Japan’s 2050 carbon neutrality roadmap.

Workforce and Community Engagement

AirTrunk currently employs over 100 people in Japan and plans to double its workforce in the near future. The company has been recognized as a Great Place to Work® in Japan. It also supports local community initiatives such as STEM scholarships at Science Tokyo, AI teacher training in high schools through CLACK, and biodiversity and conservation programs with local organizations.

The new headquarters underscores AirTrunk’s commitment to supporting Japan’s ambitions as a trusted and innovative hub for AI and sustainable digital infrastructure.
