D-Wave Quantum Relocates Global HQ to CP Group's 1.7M SF BRiC Campus in Major Real Estate Development Win
CP Group announced on January 28, 2026, that it has signed a landmark lease agreement with D-Wave Quantum Inc. (NYSE: QBTS) for the relocation of the quantum computing company's global headquarters and major U.S. Research and Development facility to the Boca Raton Innovation Campus (BRiC). The 1.7-million-square-foot technology hub, originally built by IBM, represents a significant addition to South Florida's commercial real estate landscape.
The relocation from Palo Alto, California, is supported by a separate $20 million commitment from Florida Atlantic University to purchase and install D-Wave's Advantage2™ annealing quantum computer on its nearby campus.
CP Group's $100 Million Capital Improvement Program
CP Group's recent $100 million capital improvement program at BRiC transformed the campus into an amenity-rich destination. The improvements included an on-site wellness center operated by Boca Raton Regional Hospital, the addition of two coffee shops and an autonomous grab-and-go store, a revitalized dining and banquet hall, flex indoor/outdoor event space, and a parking garage with 1,100 spaces.
"D-Wave's selection of BRiC for its global headquarters represents the capstone of our eight-year effort to transform this historic site into the premier destination for technology and life sciences in the Southeast," said Angelo Bianco, Founding and Managing Partner of CP Group. "By providing the mission-critical infrastructure required for quantum R&D along with unsurpassed amenities for our tenants, we equipped BRiC to house the technologies and people that will define the next century."
The completed renovations delivered the tailored infrastructure needed to support D-Wave's operational needs, providing specialized logistics, resilience, and redundancy essential for quantum computing operations.
Strategic Positioning in South Florida's Tech Ecosystem
D-Wave Quantum Inc., described as the only dual-platform quantum computing company providing annealing and gate-model systems, software, and services, cited Florida's growing technology ecosystem as a key factor in the headquarters relocation decision.
"Florida represents one of the fastest growing technology ecosystems in the United States, and as such, it was the ideal choice for our new corporate headquarters and U.S. R&D facility," said Dr. Alan Baratz, CEO of D-Wave. "With our new headquarters in Boca Raton at such a historic property known for innovation, we are proud to continue to support the legacy of this iconic campus."
The lease follows a record year for BRiC, which saw over 300,000 square feet of leasing activity in late 2025 alone, driven by the success of CP Group's worCPlaces spec suite program.
Campus Amenities and Infrastructure
The addition of two coffee shops and other amenities at BRiC reflects CP Group's strategy to create an amenity-rich environment for technology tenants. The investment in infrastructure, including dining options and wellness facilities, positions the campus as a destination for technology companies.
The completed renovations delivered the tailored infrastructure needed for mission-critical operations, with specialized systems supporting quantum computing research and development requirements. The capital improvement program also included event space available for rent and enhanced parking infrastructure to accommodate the campus's growing tenant base.
Market Implications
The D-Wave headquarters relocation marks a significant milestone for South Florida's commercial real estate market, as the region continues to attract technology companies. CP Group's eight-year transformation of the historic IBM campus into a modern innovation hub represents a substantial long-term capital commitment for specialized technology tenants.
Florida Atlantic University's $20 million commitment to install D-Wave's quantum computing system on its campus further strengthens the regional ecosystem for quantum research and workforce development.
