SINGAPORE AND SHANGHAI — GLP Group, a global investment manager focused on logistics, digital infrastructure, and renewable energy, and Huawei, a provider of information and communications technology infrastructure and smart devices, announced April 6, 2026, that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a long-term strategic partnership aimed at accelerating the intelligent and sustainable transformation of China's new-economy sectors.

The agreement marks a significant expansion of a relationship that spans close to a decade, during which Huawei has operated as a logistics and business-park customer and partner within GLP's China portfolio. The MoU extends that collaboration into high-growth areas including AI computing, new energy, and smart industrial operations.

Scope of the Partnership: Digital Infrastructure and AI Computing

A central pillar of the MoU involves next-generation digital infrastructure development. The companies plan to combine Huawei's capabilities in high-performance servers, storage systems, chips, and AI computing clusters with GLP's experience in infrastructure development, power-supply coordination, and large-scale facility operations. The stated goal is to develop replicable benchmark solutions to support the scaled deployment of AI computing across China.

GLP China currently ranks among China's top data center operators, with 1.4 gigawatts of secured IT capacity and approximately 1 gigawatt of renewable capacity under management as of December 31, 2025. Power-supply coordination for energy-intensive AI clusters represents one of the key operational challenges the partnership aims to address.

New Energy Applications Across GLP's Industrial Real Estate Portfolio

The MoU also covers new energy solutions intended to support decarbonization within GLP's logistics and industrial parks. Specific applications include heavy-duty truck charging stations for electric logistics fleets and battery energy storage systems, or BESS, to support energy-intensive operations such as cold chain facilities. According to the announcement, BESS solutions are designed to optimize power efficiency and stability while mitigating intermittency from renewable energy sources.

GLP China's logistics and industrial portfolio comprises 50 million square meters of total space under management, including approximately 40 million square meters in operation across 70 cities, serving more than 2,500 domestic consumption-focused customers.

Smart Operations and Industrial Real Estate Digitalization

The third area of collaboration focuses on park-level digitalization and AI-enabled operations across GLP's network of research and development, industrial, logistics, and data center facilities. Planned initiatives include smart warehousing and logistics automation, intelligent transportation systems, and the integration of Internet of Things and cloud solutions to improve operational efficiency.

Angela Zhao, CEO of GLP China, said the expansion of the Huawei relationship reflects a convergence of complementary capabilities. "GLP has been deeply rooted in China for more than two decades, building and operating critical infrastructure that supports the real economy across logistics, digital infrastructure and new energy sectors," Zhao said. "We are excited to expand our collaboration with Huawei, whose technological capabilities complement our operational expertise. By combining Huawei's world-class ICT and digital power solutions with GLP's extensive real-economy portfolio, we aim to support more sustainable and intelligent industry development."

Luo Wencheng, President of Huawei's Administrative Service Department, said the partnership reflects Huawei's broader ecosystem strategy. "GLP has extensive experience operating new-economy infrastructure across China and provides valuable real-economy application scenarios for industry digital transformation," Luo said. "We look forward to strengthening our collaboration by combining Huawei's technology capabilities with GLP's infrastructure platform to develop scalable solutions and unlock new opportunities for industry development."

Strategic Context

GLP Capital Partners, the firm's asset management arm, manages approximately $80 billion in assets under management as of December 31, 2025. GLP China operates as a focused platform within that broader structure, with integrated capabilities spanning asset development, operations, and fund management.

The MoU does not disclose financial terms, investment commitments, or a specific timeline for individual projects. Both companies characterized the agreement as a framework for long-term collaboration rather than a single transaction.
