High Street Residential, Camden Property Trust Advance 400-Unit Multifamily Development in Durham, NC
High Street Residential (HSR), the residential subsidiary of Trammell Crow Company, and Camden Property Trust have announced a collaboration to advance a 400-unit multifamily real estate development on Hopson Road in Durham, North Carolina, with groundbreaking targeted for later this summer.
HSR guided the project through key predevelopment milestones — including rezoning and site plan approvals with the City of Durham — before transitioning primary responsibility to Camden Property Trust, which will lead the project into construction and assume long-term ownership of the community.
Multifamily Development Details and Location
The planned apartment community is situated at the intersection of Hopson Road and Keystone Park Drive in Durham, a location that provides access to Interstate 40 and I-540. The City of Durham has already approved the rezoning and site plan for the project, removing a significant layer of entitlement risk ahead of the construction start.
No unit mix, square footage, or building count has been disclosed at this stage.
"HSR has been deeply engaged on this site for several years, and we are proud of the work done so far to entitle, design, and fully position this community to break ground," said Josh Dix, Principal with Trammell Crow Company in Raleigh. "Camden's long-term ownership approach and construction acumen make it the ideal organization to carry this project forward into its next phase."
Camden Property Trust echoed that sentiment. "We appreciate the thorough groundwork HSR has completed to move this opportunity through entitlements and predevelopment," said Will Smith, Vice President – Real Estate Investments at Camden. "We look forward to delivering and owning a high-quality apartment community that complements the surrounding area and meets continued demand for housing options in the Triangle."
HSR's Active Pipeline in the Raleigh Region
The Hopson Road announcement adds to an active development slate for HSR in the Raleigh-Durham region. The firm is currently underway with The Henley, a 370-unit multifamily community in Apex, North Carolina. Located at 1213 Chapel Ridge Road, that garden-style project broke ground in early 2025 and is scheduled to deliver its first units in fall 2026.
HSR also recently delivered 400H, a 20-story, 365,000-square-foot mixed-use tower in downtown Raleigh. That project includes 150,000 square feet of Class A office space, 242 luxury apartments — which are 96% leased — and 16,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.
