LG Group's Sol Modern has been named Mixed-Use Project of the Year at the 2026 RED Awards, recognizing the multifamily tower as one of the most significant additions to the Downtown Phoenix skyline in recent years, the firm announced May 25.

At 29 stories and 1.3 million square feet, Sol Modern is the tallest residential building in Phoenix, bringing 747 homes and a full city block of activity to the urban core. The project combines multifamily residential with ground-floor retail, animating street-level activity while offering residents access to a range of amenities.

A Tower That Reshaped the Downtown Phoenix Skyline

Sol Modern has become one of the most significant additions to the Downtown Phoenix skyline, according to LG Group. The development occupies a full city block and integrates retail at street level with residential units above — a mixed-use configuration that the 2026 RED Awards recognized as the standout project in its category.

The tower's amenity package includes what LG Group describes as the biggest multifamily pool in Phoenix, along with outdoor kitchen and lounge areas, cabanas, citrus groves, a half-court basketball court, fitness turf, a dog park, multiple pools and spas, and rooftop views across the Valley.

Construction Challenges Required Structural Redesign

Delivering the project was not without obstacles. According to LG Group, tight downtown site conditions shaped every phase of construction, requiring creative logistics planning and close coordination among the project team. Unexpected foundation challenges early in the process led to a full redesign of the structural approach and a retooled concrete schedule.

Despite those complications, the team maintained a demanding pour schedule to keep residential units on track for early delivery, the firm noted.

Mixed-Use Recognition at the 2026 RED Awards

The RED Awards named Sol Modern the Mixed-Use Project of the Year for 2026. The 29-story tower stands as the tallest residential building in Phoenix and a prominent feature of the Downtown Phoenix skyline.
