Trademark Property Company Sets 2027 Groundbreaking for Shawnee Trail Mixed-Use Development as Walmart Opens in Celina, Texas
Celina, Texas — Trademark and G-Man Development have announced that the first phase of Shawnee Trail, a 150-acre master-planned mixed-use development in Celina, Texas, is slated to break ground in 2027. The announcement coincides with the confirmed April 29 opening of Celina's first Walmart Supercenter, which serves as the anchor tenant for the project.
Walmart Opens as Shawnee Trail's Anchor Tenant
The Walmart Supercenter at Shawnee Trail is described in the announcement as one of the retailer's more elevated and contemporary store formats, featuring an updated layout, an on-site fulfillment center, and support for drone delivery. A Walmart fuel station associated with the store is scheduled to open to the public on April 15, ahead of the main store's April 29 opening date.
Shawnee Trail is located at the corner of Preston Road and the Collin County Outer Loop in Celina. The development is being pursued jointly by Trademark Property Company, a Fort Worth, Texas-based real estate firm, and G-Man Development, a subsidiary of Celina-based Glendenning 1887.
Mixed-Use Vision and Leasing Activity
Beyond its retail anchor, Shawnee Trail is planned to include restaurants, entertainment venues, office space, public spaces, parks, and a multifamily component. Trademark is working jointly with Shop Companies to lease the project. According to the announcement, more than 300,000 square feet of prospective tenants have expressed interest in the development.
"Walmart's opening is the first of many milestones for Shawnee Trail, where we are integrating neighborhood and community-oriented retail into a vibrant mixed-use environment that puts experience at the center," said Terry Montesi, CEO of Trademark. "Our development roadmap going forward emphasizes quality design, a focus on the pedestrian, green space, and vibrant placemaking. As we head toward a 2027 groundbreaking, our vision for a best-in-class destination for the growing Celina community."
Matthew Kiran, real estate broker at REX Real Estate and Glendenning 1887, also commented on the project's momentum. "Celina's incredible population growth is giving way to significant demand that is being funneled directly to Shawnee Trail," Kiran said. "With Walmart's upcoming opening and the groundbreaking for our mixed use development in sight, Shawnee Trail is now tangible, and retailers are letting us know they want to be a part of this community and unlock the long-term opportunities available here."
