W Hotels has opened W Riyadh – KAFD, a 210-room hotel in Riyadh's King Abdullah Financial District, marking the brand's first entry into Saudi Arabia. The property is part of Marriott International's portfolio of more than 30 hotel brands and is positioned as a social and dining destination within one of Riyadh's primary business and lifestyle hubs.

Design Rooted in Saudi Cultural Heritage

Interiors were designed by LW Design, with references to Saudi culture woven throughout the property. Stone and veined marble reflect the country's desert and mountain landscapes, while geometric textures and textiles draw from Al Sadu, a traditional weaving pattern. A six-metre tapestry by Saudi artist Abdulnasser Gharem anchors the main lobby, which is designed with a balance of open gathering areas and quieter spaces for dining and relaxation.

The W Lounge takes inspiration from traditional Bedouin gathering settings, featuring circular banquettes and sunken tables informed by firepit arrangements. Guestrooms are finished in a palette of green, ruby, gold, and bronze accents, with geometric textiles and wall art in English and Arabic typography, also by Abdulnasser Gharem.

The hotel's 210 keys include 17 suites, two penthouse suites, and the W Penthouse. The 390-square-metre W Penthouse features two bedrooms, separate living and dining areas, a kitchenette, an office, and a gym area with steam and sauna facilities, along with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking downtown Riyadh. A floor-to-ceiling installation of wooden and illuminated spheres references Subha, traditional prayer beads.

Dining and Social Programming

W Riyadh – KAFD opens with several dining and social venues. Sira offers a Latin American-inspired menu prepared in an open kitchen over an open fire, with a central bar serving crafted mocktails. Beni operates as an all-day coffee house offering specialty coffee and artisanal ice cream. WET Deck is the hotel's outdoor setting with Mediterranean-inspired food, private cabanas, and poolside seating.

A fourth venue, Sahari — named after the Arabic word for staying up late — is expected to open later this year as an outdoor lounge designed for scheduled performances and social events.

Meetings, Wellness, and Event Facilities

The hotel includes 15 flexible meeting rooms and a ballroom. Wellness offerings include the brand's signature AWAY Spa and FIT fitness studio.

"The opening of W Riyadh – KAFD is a significant moment for the brand as it enters Saudi Arabia and reinforces our commitment to redefining luxury lifestyle hospitality across the Middle East," said Helen Leighton, Vice President, Luxury Brands, EMEA. "W Hotels has always been rooted in creativity and culture, and W Riyadh – KAFD is an expression of the brand's design ethos, anticipatory service evolution, and immersive programming."
