Calaveras Cantina to Open at Grover Corlew's Mayla Pompano Mixed-Use Development in Pompano Beach

Grover Corlew has announced that Calaveras Cantina, a South Florida elevated Mexican restaurant concept, will open a new location at the company's Mayla Pompano mixed-use development in Pompano Beach, Florida, the firm announced July 27.
The restaurant will occupy 6,402 square feet on the ground floor of the renovated office building at 2335 E. Atlantic Boulevard, adding a dining anchor to the roughly four-acre campus that also includes the Mayla Pompano multifamily residences and a second reimagined office building at 2401 E. Atlantic Boulevard.
Restaurant Design and Tenant Profile
Calaveras Cantina is operated by True Grit Hospitality and is known for elevated Mexican cuisine, craft cocktails, premium tequilas, and mezcal-forward drinks. The Pompano Beach location will feature an indoor-outdoor dining experience with warm wood millwork, aged brass, and hand-finished tile, complemented by architectural lighting throughout the space.
Outside, the front and side patios will be landscaped with cacti, agave, and trailing greenery, illuminated by fire lanterns and overhead trellising. The design is intended to accommodate a range of uses, from casual lunches to evening dining and social gatherings.
"From the beginning, we've wanted every Calaveras to tell its own story while staying true to the spirit of Mexico and the hospitality that defines our brand," said Curtis Peery, president of True Grit Hospitality. "We're excited to become part of this growing neighborhood and create a destination where residents, professionals and visitors can gather over exceptional food, drinks and memorable experiences."
Grover Corlew's Mixed-Use Strategy at Mayla Pompano
The lease is part of Grover Corlew's stated approach of enhancing traditional office properties with walkable amenities designed to serve residents, office tenants, and the surrounding community beyond standard business hours. The firm has invested in both office buildings at 2335 and 2401 E. Atlantic Boulevard as part of the broader Mayla Pompano campus repositioning.
"Calaveras Cantina represents exactly the type of experiential tenant we envisioned as we transformed this property into a dynamic mixed-use destination," said Mark Corlew, partner at Grover Corlew. "Exceptional restaurants draw people together, and with Mayla Pompano residences next door and our continued investment throughout with the office buildings, Calaveras will become an exciting centerpiece that enhances the everyday experience for residents, office tenants and the community."
Grover Corlew has applied a comparable strategy at its Bank of America Tower in downtown Boca Raton, where the firm added Alex Dana's Mia Rosebud restaurant to support office tenant retention and community activation. The Calaveras Cantina lease at Mayla Pompano follows that same model, positioning curated food-and-beverage tenants as anchors for repositioned office assets.
East Atlantic Boulevard Corridor Context
The Mayla Pompano development sits along the East Atlantic Boulevard corridor in Pompano Beach. The four-acre campus combines multifamily residences with repositioned office space, creating a built-in daytime and evening customer base for ground-floor retail and dining tenants.
Grover Corlew indicated that additional retail, dining, and lifestyle tenant announcements are expected as the firm continues to activate the Mayla Pompano campus. The company's portfolio includes more than 10 million square feet of commercial space and more than 10,000 multifamily units developed, owned, and managed across the southeastern United States, with a concentration in Florida.
