Harrison Street Hires Mark Heavey as Vice President of Development and Investments to Expand Digital Platform
Harrison Street (HSAM), a Chicago-based alternative investment management firm with over $108 billion in assets under management, has announced the hiring of Mark Heavey as Vice President of Development and Investments within its digital team, the firm announced Feb. 18, 2026.
Role and Responsibilities
In his new position, Heavey will be responsible for deal sourcing and pipeline management in support of HSAM's digital investment platform, with a focus on hyperscale and operationally intensive data center investments. He will oversee transaction execution across digital asset and development deals and will work closely with the firm's asset management, portfolio management, and investor solutions teams to align digital asset transactions with opportunities across HSAM's real estate and infrastructure strategies.
Heavey's Background in Data Center Real Estate
Heavey brings more than a decade of experience across the data center and digital infrastructure sector. He began his career at Digital Realty and most recently served as a Director at GC Infra, where he was responsible for evaluating and executing data center developments, acquisitions, and global investment opportunities. His experience spans site selection and due diligence, financial modeling and valuation, market research, bid preparation, and complex commercial and legal negotiations.

Since 2018, HSAM's digital investment platform has committed over $6.5 billion to powered shells, carrier hotels, colocation sites, and dark fiber platforms. The firm's digital assets portfolio is part of a broader strategy targeting demographic-driven and needs-based assets addressing critical global demand across its real estate and infrastructure strategies.
