JLL Appoints Kristy Hwang as Head of Capital Markets in Taiwan
JLL has appointed Kristy Hwang as Head of Capital Markets for its Taiwan operations, effective September 1, 2026. Hwang will lead the firm's Taiwan investment team with a mandate to strengthen capital markets business development by combining JLL's global resources with local market expertise to serve domestic and foreign investors.
A Veteran of Institutional Capital Markets
Hwang brings more than 30 years of experience spanning real estate investment, asset management and capital markets across Taiwan and the United States. Prior to joining JLL, she served as Senior Vice President and Head of Real Estate at Taiwan Life Insurance, where she oversaw a real estate investment portfolio exceeding US$4 billion. That portfolio spanned a range of asset classes, including office, retail malls, hotels, logistics facilities and mixed-use developments.
Before her tenure at Taiwan Life Insurance, Hwang was Managing Partner of CapitaLink Investment Advisors, where she led multiple benchmark transactions and advisory mandates. Those engagements included representing GIC, Singapore's sovereign wealth fund, in the sale of TaiMall Shopping Center, as well as advising on major financing and merger-and-acquisition transactions. Earlier in her career, she worked at CBRE Taiwan, where she built and led the investment property and agency services teams.
Her client relationships have spanned domestic and international institutional investors and financial institutions, including GIC and major insurance companies.
JLL's Strategic Rationale
JLL said it intends to continue deepening investment, capital markets and cross-border transaction services as global capital rebalances and Taiwan's commercial property market moves toward more diversified asset allocation.
Taiwan Market Context
The appointment comes as Taiwan's commercial real estate market is posting elevated transaction activity. Commercial property transaction volume in Taiwan reached a 10-year high in the first half of the year, with technology companies playing a central role in driving capital markets activity. Urban renewal and joint development projects are expected to generate up to NT$3 trillion in tenders and capital-raising over a full year.
On the leasing side, total Grade A office leasing volume in Taipei reached 27,833 ping in the first half of 2026, up 37% year-on-year. Leasing in the central business district hit its highest first-half level in eight years, while CBD vacancy fell to 5.1%, its lowest in nearly two years. Technology companies accounted for 55% of leasing activity during the period.
The broader Asia Pacific investment market has also strengthened. Direct commercial real estate investment volumes in the region rose 38% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, the most active second quarter in five years for the region. Globally, direct investment volumes were up 28% year-over-year through the second quarter.
