JLL has appointed Washington Botelho as chief executive officer of its Brazil operations, effective May 1, 2026, the company announced on May 15. Botelho succeeds Fábio Maceira in what the firm described as a structured transition designed to accelerate growth strategy and operational efficiency in the country.

Leadership Transition Tied to Global Strategy

Botelho brings an extensive executive background to the role, having previously served as CEO of ISS Brazil, Xerox, and Adellco Latin America. At the time of the appointment, he was already serving as President of the Work Dynamics Division for Latin America at JLL. He also holds the position of leader of the WTC Business Club CEO Committee.

The appointment is framed by JLL as a strategic move aligned with its global Accelerate 2030 plan. Under Botelho's leadership, JLL Brazil will concentrate resources on two primary service lines: Real Estate Management Services (REMS) and Leasing Advisory.

"I assume leadership of JLL in Brazil with the mission of strengthening our regional integration and delivering consistent value to our clients," Botelho said in the announcement. "We will accelerate the execution of our strategy in the areas of management and leasing, utilizing our data intelligence and technology to anticipate the needs of a transforming market, especially in resilient sectors such as offices and logistics, and in light of growing demand for data center infrastructure."

Office Real Estate and Industrial Real Estate in Focus

JLL cited solid market conditions in Brazil as a backdrop for the leadership change. According to company data referenced in the announcement, Brazil has established itself as a strategic hub for technological infrastructure asset expansion in Latin America, while traditional office and logistics segments are registering what the firm characterized as robust occupancy indicators.

JLL's announcement also referenced related market research. A JLL Q1 2026 report on the São Paulo office market noted that the Rebouças submarket had reached zero vacancy, with average asking prices rising 24.3% over two years. A separate JLL report on Rio de Janeiro's office market indicated that vacancy had declined for three consecutive years, with Barra da Tijuca and Centro recording strong absorption rates in the first quarter of 2026, driven largely by financial sector leasing activity.

On the industrial real estate side, JLL Brazil research reported that the industrial market reached its lowest vacancy rate in history as of Q1 2026, with 77% of new inventory delivered in early 2026 already occupied at the time of delivery.

Data Center Infrastructure Cited as Growth Area

Beyond office real estate and industrial real estate, Botelho specifically highlighted data center infrastructure as a key area of focus. JLL's announcement noted that Brazil has consolidated its position as a strategic hub for the expansion of technological infrastructure assets across Latin America. The firm's Latin America Data Center Report for year-end 2025 described exceptional performance placing the region on the global market map.

JLL operates in more than 80 countries and reported annual revenue of $26.1 billion as of March 31, 2026.

Operational Continuity

JLL described the leadership transition as carefully planned to maintain service continuity. "The transition was planned to ensure complete operational continuity. We have a highly qualified team and a service portfolio that positions us to lead the future of work and the operation of complex real estate assets in Brazil," Botelho said.
