QuadReal Targets May 2026 Retail Opening at Oakridge Park, Vancouver's Largest Mixed-Use Real Estate Development
QuadReal is set to open the retail district at Oakridge Park in Vancouver in May 2026, advancing one of the largest mixed-use real estate development projects in the city's history. The phased opening marks a significant step for the firm, which describes Oakridge Park as its largest development to date and manages $98.5 billion in assets under management globally.
Retail and Office Real Estate at Scale
The retail district, spanning 650,000 square feet, will feature more than 100 global and local brands when it opens in May 2026. Among the confirmed tenants is Time Out Market Vancouver, which will occupy 51,000 square feet within the development. The retail component is complemented by 700,000 square feet of office real estate.
Remco Daal, Chief Operating Officer at QuadReal Property Group, addressed the project's scope in a published Q&A. "We're proud to own and manage a development of this size, but it's not just the scale that's impressive," Daal said. "Since the beginning, our team has focused on creating a space that brings people together through lifestyle, culture, and a real sense of community."
Community Amenities and Public Park
Beyond its retail and office real estate components, Oakridge Park is anchored by a nine-acre public park. The park is designed to host concerts, house playgrounds, a running loop, and a cycling network integrated into the City of Vancouver's existing path infrastructure. According to QuadReal, most of the green space is expected to be completed in tandem with the shopping centre opening.
The development also includes a 100,000-square-foot community centre housing a seniors' centre, daycare facilities, and a Vancouver Public Library branch.
Residential Component and Development Timeline
The residential phase of Oakridge Park will provide homes for more than 6,000 residents. QuadReal reported that the residential component was approximately 85% complete as of the announcement, with move-ins expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026.
Oakridge Park Within QuadReal's Portfolio
Oakridge Park is the largest project within QuadReal's broader Canadian development pipeline. QuadReal manages $98.5 billion in assets under management across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Australia, ranking among the world's top 20 real estate investors.
The firm's other major mixed-use real estate development projects include The Post in Vancouver, which opened in 2023 and features 1.1 million square feet of office space alongside a retail atrium. In Toronto, QuadReal is advancing a mixed-use redevelopment at Bayview Village Shopping Centre, converting underused space into a combination of condominium, rental, and retail uses. In Vaughan, Ontario, the 83-acre Assembly Park project is planned as a metropolitan centre with more than 17,000 residential suites at full build-out.
"Large mixed-use projects take time, but we're creating homes, offices, recreation, retail and public spaces that will last for generations," Daal said. "We are committed to community-building and have the resources, capabilities, and financial stability to take a long-term view across our developments."
QuadReal has not disclosed specific financing terms, transaction pricing, or cap rate details for the Oakridge Park development.
