RXR Breaks Ground on 200,000+ SF of Industrial Space at Veridea Mixed-Use Development in Apex, NC

RXR has broken ground on more than 200,000 square feet of industrial space within the Veridea master-planned community in Apex, North Carolina, the firm announced April 14. The construction start is part of one of the region's larger mixed-use development projects, spanning 1,100 acres and encompassing residential, retail, healthcare, and industrial components.

Industrial Construction Underway Across Multiple Phases

The industrial space at Veridea is being delivered across multiple phases of development, with active construction now underway on all sites, according to RXR. The project is situated near NC 55 and the I-540 interchange in Apex, a location that RXR executives say has generated significant inbound interest ahead of first occupancy.

"You can only imagine the sort of support services that're going to be required, and we're one red light away. Getting this out of the ground sooner and up is obviously very important to us," said Joe Graziose, Executive Vice President of Residential Construction and Development at RXR. "We're getting a lot of inbound, a lot of inquiries from people. With all that's going on in this region, and the fact that we have this ramp right off of 540, it becomes a great opportunity. This has been going on now for over a year and a half; we've got active construction on all of our sites."

Infrastructure Upgrades Support Development Timeline

RXR is working in close partnership with the Town of Apex and regional stakeholders to deliver infrastructure improvements aligned with the project's long-term growth. Upgrades along NC 55 are currently underway and are expected to be completed ahead of first occupancy, reflecting a coordinated public-private effort to align surrounding infrastructure with the scale of the Veridea development.

The broader Veridea master-planned community will ultimately include more than 1,000 planned homes, retail, and a children's hospital in addition to the industrial component.

Veridea's Mixed-Use Scope

Veridea is a 1,100-acre master-planned community in Apex, North Carolina, designed to integrate residential, commercial, healthcare, and industrial uses within a single development footprint. RXR has been active in site preparation at Veridea for more than 18 months, according to Graziose.

RXR has not disclosed specific leasing terms, tenant commitments, or financial details related to the industrial component at this stage of development.
