Shawn Kimble Joins Stream Realty Partners as Executive Managing Director to Lead Investment Management Growth

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Stream Realty Partners has hired Shawn Kimble as Executive Managing Director within its Investment Management platform, the Dallas-based national commercial real estate firm announced Sept. 2, 2026. Kimble will be based in Charlotte and work alongside Chief Investment Officer Adam Jackson to lead capital formation, investment strategy, new product development, and the continued growth of Stream's investment management business.

Kimble Brings Nearly Two Decades of Institutional Real Estate Experience

Kimble joins Stream from Barings, where he most recently served as Head of U.S. & European Capital Markets and Strategy for the firm's global real estate platform. In that role, he oversaw capital markets, research and strategy, valuations, risk management, development, and engineering, while also driving strategic growth initiatives across the platform. He served on Barings' U.S. Debt, Equity, and Affordable Housing Investment Committees, as well as its Valuation Committees.

During his tenure at Barings, Kimble also served as Chief Operating Officer of U.S. Real Estate and previously led the firm's U.S. Real Estate Capital Markets team, overseeing the execution of more than $35 billion of asset- and fund-level leverage. Earlier in his time at the firm, he sourced and executed equity investments and joint venture developments.

Before joining Barings, Kimble began his career with Wells Fargo's Real Estate Capital Markets group in New York, where he originated, structured, and closed more than $7.5 billion in commercial real estate financings.

Stream's Investment Management Platform at a Glance

Stream launched its investment management platform in 2015, with Jackson leading its build-out. The platform has grown from an initial $175 million to five commingled funds with $2 billion of equity, and has delivered approximately a 36% gross IRR and a 2.10x gross equity multiple across office, industrial, multifamily, land, retail, and data center investments.

As of late 2025, the Investment Management group comprised 35 professionals overseeing five commingled funds plus joint ventures and wholly owned assets, encompassing 63 investments, approximately 34 million square feet, and more than $3.4 billion in assets under management. The firm also launched a continuation vehicle during that period, reflecting the platform's move toward more institutionalized multi-fund structures.

Kimble's background in leverage execution, risk management, valuations, and capital formation across both debt and equity strategies positions him to support that institutionalization. His experience working both sides of the capital stack — as a lender at Wells Fargo and as a capital markets and strategy leader at Barings — is directly applicable to an environment where institutional investors are scrutinizing underwriting assumptions more closely.

Charlotte's Rising Profile as an Institutional CRE Market

Kimble's placement in Charlotte reflects both his existing presence in the city — Barings' global headquarters is also based there — and Charlotte's growing stature as a commercial real estate investment destination. Charlotte ranked fifth among the most attractive commercial real estate markets in the U.S. in CBRE's 2026 North America Investor Intentions survey, a jump of 13 spots year-over-year. Investors targeting the market have shown a preference for value-add and core-plus strategies.

Charlotte's industrial market has posted healthy fundamentals, with annual net absorption surpassing 2 million square feet — up approximately 30% from 2024 — driven by bulk distribution demand. The office market has faced softer conditions but has benefited from in-migration of financial services and fintech employers, with landlords increasingly relying on creative financing and recapitalizations as equity fills gaps left by more conservative lenders.
