Thompson Thrift, a full-service real estate company focused on multifamily and mixed-use development, hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 13, 2026, for Refinery at Pointe17, a 224-unit Class A multifamily community in North Phoenix, Arizona. Construction was completed and resident move-ins began near the end of 2025.

Multifamily Development in a High-Growth Innovation Corridor

Refinery at Pointe17 is located near Interstate 17 at Dove Valley Road and 29th Avenue. The community sits in close proximity to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's (TSMC) expanding semiconductor campus and the emerging Halo Vista master-planned development — a mixed-use innovation hub currently under construction that is expected to bring significant employment, retail, hospitality, and residential growth to the area.

Together, these developments are contributing to North Phoenix's growing reputation as a center for advanced manufacturing and technology investment, a dynamic that has been referred to as the "Silicon Desert."

"We're excited to celebrate the official opening of Refinery at Pointe17 and expand our presence in one of the fastest-growing innovation corridors in the country," said Angie Atkins, Senior Vice President, Community Management at Thompson Thrift. "This community reflects our commitment to delivering a high-quality living experience in locations where residents can benefit from both connectivity and convenience."

Property Features and Amenities

Refinery at Pointe17 offers one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartment homes. Apartment interiors include stainless-steel appliances, hardwood-style flooring, tile backsplashes, walk-in closets, full-size washers and dryers, and Alexa-compatible smart home technology. Select units feature private yards, patios, or balconies.

Community amenities include a 24-hour fitness center, yoga and spin studio, resort-style heated swimming pool, pickleball court, rooftop deck, coworking spaces, private focus rooms and offices, a dog park and pet spa, and more than 80 on-site electric vehicle charging stations.

Mixed-Use Retail Component at Pointe17

Refinery serves as the residential component of Pointe17, Thompson Thrift's broader mixed-use development that integrates multifamily living with retail, dining, and service-oriented tenants. Businesses currently open or coming soon to the Pointe17 retail component include Oregano's, Black Rock Coffee, Over Easy, Blo Dry Bar, Pepper Lunch, Handel's Ice Cream, and Heartland Dental, among additional neighborhood-serving retailers.

Community Investment and Company Context

At the ribbon-cutting event, Thompson Thrift presented a charitable contribution to Southwest Human Development, described as Arizona's largest nonprofit organization dedicated to early childhood development.

"Supporting organizations like Southwest Human Development reflects our commitment to making a positive impact in the communities where we build," said Tamera Greene, Vice President, Community Management at Thompson Thrift. "We're proud to partner with an organization that supports families and their young children to set them on a path to success."

Thompson Thrift, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2026, has invested more than $7.2 billion in local communities since its founding. The firm is engaged in all aspects of development, construction, leasing, and management of real estate projects nationally. The company has been recognized on the 2026 NMHC Top 50 Developers and Builders lists, as well as multiple Top Workplaces designations.
