Urban Partners and HIH Invest Complete Acquisition of 17,300-Square-Metre Logistics Development Site in Hamburg-Billbrook
Urban Partners and HIH Invest Real Estate (HIH Invest) have completed the acquisition of a logistics development site in Hamburg-Billbrook, the firms announced May 28, 2026. The site carries a total planned gross lettable area of approximately 17,300 square metres and is intended to accommodate up to two logistics units, according to the announcement.
The transaction represents Urban Partners' first logistics investment in Hamburg and the fourth logistics transaction completed by the joint venture between the two firms.
Deal Details and Site Characteristics
The rectangular site in Hamburg-Billbrook benefits from proximity to Hamburg's city centre, the Port of Hamburg, and major motorway connections, according to the firms. The planned facility will offer substantial yard space and multiple loading docks per unit, designed to meet the operational requirements of modern logistics occupiers.
The development is being designed to meet DGNB Gold and EU Taxonomy standards and will incorporate energy-efficient measures, including provision for rooftop photovoltaics, the firms said.
No transaction price was disclosed.
Joint Venture Expansion
The acquisition extends an existing joint venture between Urban Partners and HIH Invest that has now completed four logistics transactions. WolfgangKödel, Managing Director and Head of Germany at Urban Partners, described the deal as a milestone in the firm's German logistics expansion.
"This acquisition represents a milestone for Urban Partners as we continue to expand our logistics footprint in Germany. We are very happy to continue our successful partnership with HIH Invest with our fourth logistics transaction,"Ködel said in the announcement.
Lars Bothe, Head of Value Add Investments at HIH Invest, said the transaction underscores the continued growth of the partnership. "With this acquisition, we are expanding our joint investment activities with Urban Partners, marking our fourth investment within a year, underlining the continued growth of our partnership. We continuously review additional investment opportunities," Bothe said.
