CBRE Appoints Tom Wilson Director of Cross-Border Capital for Asia Pacific
SINGAPORE — August 28, 2026 — CBRE has appointed Tom Wilson as Director, Cross-Border Capital, Capital Markets, Asia Pacific, the firm announced Thursday, adding a specialist advisory seat to its regional capital markets platform as cross-border investment activity across the region accelerates.
Wilson is based in Singapore and will advise clients on cross-border transactions spanning all asset classes, with a primary focus on Southeast Asian outbound investment into Australia and New Zealand, as well as other global markets beyond Asia Pacific.
Role and Responsibilities
The appointment expands CBRE's cross-border investment advisory capabilities in Asia Pacific under Greg Hyland, Head of Capital Markets, Asia Pacific. Wilson's remit covers the full capital stack and multiple asset classes, with an emphasis on helping institutional investors identify and execute strategic opportunities across markets.
"Tom's appointment reflects our continued commitment to growing our cross-border capital markets platform and supporting investors seeking access to a broad range of real estate strategies and asset classes. His international investment experience, combined with his deep understanding of Australia and New Zealand, will help us further serve clients pursuing opportunities across the region," Hyland said.
Wilson described the rationale for the role in terms of investor demand: "Investors increasingly require insights and execution capabilities that connect opportunities across markets, asset classes, and capital sources. CBRE's global platform, deep local expertise, and strong client relationships provide a strong foundation for helping investors identify and execute strategic opportunities across multiple markets."
Wilson's Background
Wilson brings cross-border transaction experience across Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Continental Europe. Immediately prior to joining CBRE, he was with Invesco Real Estate in London, where he held a pan-European investment role spanning a diverse range of asset classes. He began his career at CBRE in Sydney as part of the firm's Debt & Structured Finance team.
Market Backdrop: Rising Cross-Border Capital Flows
The hire comes as Asia Pacific commercial real estate investment volumes have rebounded sharply. Full-year 2025 investment volumes across the region reached $157 billion, up 22% year-over-year. That momentum has carried into 2026: first-quarter investment volume reached $46.2 billion, up 18% year-over-year, and activity through the first half of 2026 was up 27% year-over-year, with office investment volumes rising 29% over the same period. CBRE has forecast 5–10% year-on-year growth in Asia Pacific investment volumes for full-year 2026.
Investor sentiment has shifted alongside volumes. CBRE's 2026 Asia Pacific Investor Intentions Survey found that 57% of investors plan to increase acquisitions in 2026, with net buying intentions rising to 17%, up from 13% in 2025 and 5% in 2024. Sydney ranks as the second most preferred destination for cross-border capital in Asia Pacific, trailing only Tokyo, while Singapore ranks among the top four markets alongside Seoul.
Australia has seen particularly strong inbound capital, with investment volumes up approximately 49% year-over-year in early 2026. CBRE's Pacific Market Outlook projects investment volumes in Australia and New Zealand to grow approximately 5% in 2026, led by office and industrial assets. In New Zealand, commercial investment transactions in the first half of 2025 totaled nearly NZ$1.86 billion across 82 sales.
Strategic Context for CBRE
Wilson's Singapore base positions him at the intersection of Southeast Asian capital origin and downstream deployment into Pacific markets — a corridor CBRE has identified as a priority for its cross-border advisory build-out. The firm's capital markets platform integrates investment sales, advisory, financing, and investment banking into a global service offering, and CBRE has been emphasizing cross-border capital advisory as a differentiator in the Asia Pacific region.
For the first time since 2020, office has overtaken industrial and logistics as the most preferred investment sector among Asia Pacific investors surveyed by CBRE, a shift that aligns with Wilson's experience advising on office and other asset classes across multiple geographies.
