JLL Names Kevin MacKenzie CEO of Capital Markets, Americas as Mark Gibson Becomes U.S. Country CEO

•3 min read

Chicago, Oct. 14, 2026 — JLL announced today that Kevin MacKenzie will become CEO, Capital Markets, Americas, succeeding Mark Gibson, who has been appointed to the newly created role of Country CEO, U.S. MacKenzie, currently President of Capital Markets Americas, will assume the new position effective Jan. 1, 2027, when Gibson fully transitions to his new role.

Mark Gibson Takes New U.S. Country CEO Role

Gibson's appointment as Country CEO, U.S. is effective immediately. In the role, he will lead a U.S. Executive Committee focused on ensuring clients benefit from the full depth and breadth of JLL's capabilities each time they engage with the firm. JLL said the committee will serve clients based on a deep understanding of their strategic objectives and will use the firm's technology-enabled platform and proprietary data to deliver insights.

Gibson has been CEO of Capital Markets Americas for seven years and will remain in that role through the end of 2026 to support a smooth transition. Before that, he was CEO of HFF, Inc., which he led until 2019, when it was acquired by JLL.

The role does not change how JLL's business lines are organized. Business lines will keep their global reporting structure and leadership, and the U.S. Executive Committee brings business line leaders together around shared clients. JLL said the Country CEO model follows the approach it already uses in its other major geographies.

Kevin MacKenzie Moves From President to CEO of Capital Markets, Americas

MacKenzie has been with HFF and JLL since 2004, progressing through several facets of the Capital Markets business. He became President of Capital Markets Americas and joined the Global Capital Markets Board on Jan. 1, 2025.

"We have a deep bench of experts and strong continuity of leadership in our Capital Markets team – as evidenced by Kevin's appointment," said Richard Bloxam, CEO of Capital Markets Services, JLL. "Kevin has built strong teams across multiple markets and business lines, bringing the best of JLL to our clients. His experience and track record make him the natural choice to lead Americas Capital Markets."

Part of JLL's Accelerate 2030 Strategy

The creation of the Country CEO role supports "Deepen Client Relationships," one of the six imperatives of Accelerate 2030, JLL's multi-year strategy. JLL introduced Accelerate 2030 in March 2026 with through-cycle targets of 8% average annual revenue growth, 12% average annual adjusted EBITDA growth and 16% average annual adjusted earnings-per-share growth.

"In today's complex operating environment, companies are looking to fewer, more strategic partners to advise them across their entire real estate portfolio," said Christian Ulbrich, President and CEO, JLL. "The Country CEO, U.S. will be central to delivering the expertise and scale our clients require. Mark is a highly accomplished leader with a strong track record of building lasting relationships with clients; he is uniquely positioned to bring the full breadth of JLL to every one of them."

Gibson said in a statement: "I've always said that this is a team sport. The real estate landscape today is too complex and nuanced for any one person to offer what our clients need at scale; fortunately, at JLL, we have the brightest experts across every real estate discipline."

The appointment follows JLL's September selection of Paul Morgan as chief operating officer, a role tied to the strategy's "Unlock Platform Excellence" objective.

Capital Markets Backdrop

The leadership change comes as JLL's Capital Markets Services business has been growing. In the second quarter of 2026, the segment grew 19% in local currency, led by investment sales, debt advisory and equity advisory, while total company revenue reached $6.9 billion, up 11% in U.S. dollars. In the first quarter, Capital Markets Services revenue increased 21% in local currency.

CBRE projected that U.S. commercial real estate investment volume would rise 16% in 2026 to approximately $605 billion, although its midyear outlook said capitalization rates were likely to remain broadly stable for the rest of the year. CBRE described 2026 lending conditions as healthy, with abundant liquidity, but noted that default rates could increase for obsolete assets. A separate market outlook warned that rising interest rates and higher bond yields could weigh on near-term capital-markets activity.
