Lendlease and joint venture partner Aware Super welcomed the first residents to The Riverie on January 21, 2026, marking the opening of an 834-unit mixed-use development on the Greenpoint waterfront in Brooklyn. The all-electric building at 18 India Street (also known as 1 Java Street) brings nearly 13,000 square feet of retail space and Riverie Park, an 18,000-square-foot waterfront park, to the neighborhood.

The development spans an entire city block with two residential towers rising 37 and 20 stories atop a six-level podium. Residences range from studios to three-bedrooms and include apartments, penthouses and duplex townhomes, with 30 percent of homes designated as affordable housing.

Strong Leasing Momentum and Interest in Waterfront Living

"With strong leasing momentum and interest, we're excited to welcome the first residents to The Riverie that offers waterfront living and blends elevated comfort and convenience," said Layth Madi, Senior Vice President, Director of Development Management and Operations, New York, Lendlease. "Since day one, we've been driven to create a residential experience that connects people to their homes, community, and the vibrancy of the Greenpoint neighborhood—and it's deeply fulfilling to see that vision come to life."

Select layouts feature private terraces, balconies or street level entrances inspired by Brooklyn brownstone stoops. Interiors showcase oversized windows with sweeping skyline and riverfront views from Midtown to Downtown Manhattan across to DUMBO and Williamsburg along the East River.

Retail Space and Community Amenities

The development includes nearly 13,000 square feet of retail space and more than 130,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenities for residents. Indoor amenities include coworking suites with conference rooms and phone booths, a two-story fitness center with yoga studio, sauna and recovery spaces, and a creative suite with a speakeasy lounge, music and podcast studios, a chef's kitchen and a children's playroom.

Outdoor amenities include landscaped courtyards, a fitness deck, grilling stations and a rooftop pool. Riverie Park, designed by James Corner Field Operations, the landscape architecture practice that designed The Highline, restores a section of the shoreline with native plantings. The park connects directly to the India Street Pier, offering ferry service to Midtown Manhattan and the Financial District.

Marvel Architects designed the project, with James Corner Field Operations handling landscape architecture. Douglas Elliman Development Marketing manages leasing, while Greystar provides property management services.
