Newmark has made two senior leadership appointments to its Occupier Solutions division, naming Tom Hundelt as Global Head of Operations & Risk and hiring Justin Smith as Global Head of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), the firm announced April 28. The moves are aimed at advancing a unified, data-driven approach to risk and operational performance across Newmark's global platform.

Leadership Appointments

Hundelt and Smith will jointly drive the evolution of Newmark's global HSE strategy, with responsibilities spanning risk governance, contractor safety and operational consistency across client portfolios worldwide.

"As we continue to scale Occupier Solutions globally, further integrating our capabilities and expanding our client reach, strengthening our risk and operational framework is a critical priority," said Peter Trollope, Global Head of Occupier Solutions at Newmark. "These appointments further help us build a more connected, data-driven business that delivers consistent, high-quality outcomes across markets, while positioning us for continued growth in an increasingly complex operating environment."

Tom Hundelt: Nearly Two Decades at Newmark

Hundelt brings close to 20 years of experience at Newmark to his new role. He most recently served as Head of Program & Project Management, where he executed projects for multinational clients across a wide span of industries, including technology, education, healthcare and finance. Eric Brown has assumed Hundelt's former role as Americas Head of Project Management.

"Our priority is ensuring that risk management, safety and operational rigor are embedded consistently across how we serve clients," Hundelt said. "Justin's leadership strengthens our ability to deliver that at scale as Occupier Solutions continues to grow and integrate globally."

Justin Smith Joins from Cushman & Wakefield

Smith joins Newmark from Cushman & Wakefield, where he served as Head of Environmental Health & Safety for the Americas, leading regional strategy and risk mitigation across thousands of properties in multiple countries. Prior to that role, he led global safety program development for data center construction operations at Amazon Web Services.

Smith holds credentials as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST).

"Newmark's integrated model and focus on delivering consistent outcomes globally create a strong foundation for advancing health and safety at scale," Smith said. "I'm excited to partner across the organization to further unify our approach, leverage data and strengthen how we protect people, assets and operations for our clients worldwide."
