Patrizia Appoints Dr. Steffen Hartmann to Lead Core Commercial Real Estate Fund Management
Global real assets investment manager Patrizia has appointed Dr. Steffen Hartmann as Head of Fund Management Real Estate Core Commercial, the firm announced April 2, 2026. The hire strengthens Patrizia's core commercial real estate platform across the DACH region and key European markets.
Steffen Hartmann Real Estate Background and Role
Hartmann brings more than 20 years of experience in institutional portfolio management, fund structuring, and investment strategy to the role. Based in Frankfurt, he assumes responsibility for Patrizia's core commercial fund portfolio, with a mandate to enhance performance and grow the platform.
He joins from Industria Immobilien, where he served as Head of Business Development and Strategy. Prior to that, Hartmann held senior roles at Helaba Invest, serving as Head of Transactions Real Assets — covering real estate and infrastructure — and Head of Real Estate. During his tenure at Helaba Invest, he scaled the firm's real assets platform from EUR 4 billion to EUR 15 billion in assets under management. He also oversaw EUR 8 billion in investments in global real estate and alternative investments, and under his leadership the firm deployed EUR 12 billion across real estate and infrastructure spanning multiple geographies, sectors, and risk profiles.
Earlier in his career, Hartmann was a Senior Advisory Consultant and Manager at PwC, focused on real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and fund and asset restructurings.
Mahdi Mokrane, Patrizia Co-Head of Fund Management and Head of Fund Management Real Estate, said: "I'm delighted to welcome Steffen to PATRIZIA. At PATRIZIA, our investment strategy is resilient, being aligned with the DUEL megatrends of digital, urban, energy and living transition to identify short-term opportunities and long-term value in constructing a future-proof solution-based portfolio. Steffen's experience and skillset complement our strategy through his leadership experience in core commercial fund management."
Mokrane added: "I believe we have found a strong and dedicated leader whose cross-functional management experience, investment culture, and investment expertise will help us drive our commercial fund management platform into the new cycle."
Prior Familiarity with Patrizia's Platform
Hartmann's familiarity with Patrizia's platform extends beyond his new role. Konrad Finkenzeller, Patrizia Head of Client Division, noted that Hartmann previously invested in Patrizia funds and served on several advisory committees, including those overseeing Patrizia's hospitality and healthcare funds.
"Steffen's experience in risk analysis, investor communication, business development and capital-raising, as well as regulatory alignment, will bring important expertise to PATRIZIA," Finkenzeller said. "This senior hire marks an important step in strengthening our company's broad core commercial real estate platform in the DACH region and across our key European markets."
The appointment reflects Patrizia's emphasis on its DUEL framework — digital, urban, energy, and living transitions — which guides the firm's investment strategy across asset classes and geographies.
