Wood Partners Breaks Ground on 252-Unit Alta Longmont Multifamily Development Near Boulder

LONGMONT, Colo. — National multifamily developer Wood Partners and Germany-based capital partner EIG EuroInvestor broke ground May 13 on Alta Longmont, a 252-unit apartment community in Longmont, a suburb outside of Boulder, Colorado. The project is slated to open in spring 2028.
Alta Longmont Multifamily Development: Project Overview
The development will consist of seven three-story buildings situated above St. Vrain Creek, offering views of the Flatirons and direct access to an adjacent greenway corridor. The site provides opportunities for biking, fishing and walking, while downtown Longmont remains a short bike ride away.
The community will feature a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment layouts. Planned amenities include a resort-style pool and courtyard with mountain views, an outdoor kitchen and grill area, a fitness center, a resident clubhouse, a business center with private conference rooms and a dedicated dog walking area.
"Our goal is to deliver projects that not only serve residents, but also add to the character and long-term momentum of the surrounding area," said Walter Armer, managing director at Wood Partners. "Alta Longmont gives residents a place where they can stay connected to the outdoors while still being close to Main Street, the heart of the city."
Capital Partnership
The project marks a continuation of a partnership between Atlanta-headquartered Wood Partners and Hamburg, Germany-based EIG EuroInvestor, a real estate investment management firm that identifies and manages U.S. investment opportunities for European investors. EIG has invested $1.8 billion in real estate over the past 25 years. Since 2014, EIG has partnered with Wood Partners on 22 projects, with 13 completed and sold.
"We're proud to continue our long-standing partnership with Wood Partners to bring much-needed housing to Boulder County," said Kilian Kagel, managing partner at EIG. "It's rewarding to be part of a project that contributes to the continued growth of this great community."
Financial terms of the development were not disclosed.
Project Team and Infrastructure Improvements
Design Balance is serving as lead architect on the project, with Civil Resources acting as civil engineer. Wood Partners is also working with the City of Longmont on infrastructure improvements in the surrounding area, including expanding and repaving Rogers Road, adding sidewalks, installing underground utility lines and upgrading the sanitary connection.
Wood Partners' Recent Colorado Activity
Wood Partners broke ground last year on Alta Metro Center, a 365-unit project in Aurora — described as the largest suburb of Denver and the state's third-largest city — as well as The Foxley by Alta in Superior, Colorado, a 251-unit community located on one of the last remaining parcels of the Downtown Superior Masterplan.
Headquartered in Atlanta, Wood Partners operates offices in 17 major markets across the United States. The firm has been involved in the acquisition and development of more than 115,000 multifamily homes with a combined capitalization of $24 billion and currently owns more than 80 properties representing approximately 25,000 homes. Wood Partners is consistently ranked among the five largest multifamily developers in the United States.
