BNP Paribas Real Estate announced a multi-step leadership transition for its European Advisory business on Sept. 15, 2026, with Laurent Boucher — the firm's Deputy Chief Executive Officer responsible for Advisory across Europe and CEO of Advisory France — set to retire on Dec. 31, 2026, after a career spanning nearly four decades with the company.

The changes install Marcus Zorn as CEO of BNP Paribas Real Estate Advisory effective immediately, and designate Brice de Germay as CEO of BNP Paribas Real Estate Advisory France beginning Jan. 1, 2027. Both appointments are designed to sustain the firm's pan-European Advisory platform at a moment when European commercial real estate investment volumes have begun to recover.

A Planned Succession Years in the Making

The announcement is the final step in a governance redesign that BNP Paribas Real Estate began in late 2025. In October 2025, the firm elevated Jean-Maxime Jouis — then Global Head of Investment Management — to Deputy CEO with supervisory responsibility for Advisory and Property Management across Europe, while simultaneously expanding Laurent Boucher's remit to cover Advisory activities in every country where the company operates, including Germany and the United Kingdom. By February 2026, Jouis had been named Chief Executive Officer of BNP Paribas Real Estate, with Boucher confirmed as Deputy CEO overseeing Transaction, Consulting and Valuation business lines across the continent.

Brice de Germay was drawn into the succession track at the same time, appointed Deputy CEO of BNP Paribas Real Estate Advisory France in January 2026, reporting to Boucher and working alongside Paris office leasing specialist Eric Siesse.

The September 2026 announcement completes that arc: Zorn assumes pan-European Advisory leadership while retaining his seat on the BNP Paribas Real Estate Executive Board and his role as CEO of BNP Paribas Real Estate Germany, and de Germay steps into the top France role at the start of 2027. Laurent Boucher will remain CEO of Advisory France and a member of the Executive Board through Dec. 31, 2026, to support the handover.

Laurent Boucher's Legacy at BNP Paribas Real Estate

Laurent Boucher's tenure at BNP Paribas Real Estate spanned nearly 40 years. Over that period, he helped build the Advisory business in France before expanding its footprint across Europe, and served as a member of the Executive Board with a direct role in shaping the firm's strategic direction. His responsibilities were formally extended to Germany and the United Kingdom as of Jan. 1, 2026.

"I am stepping down with great confidence in the future, inspired by the commitment and professionalism of the teams with whom I have had the privilege of supporting our clients over all these years," Laurent Boucher said. "I am convinced that they will continue to benefit from the highest level of expertise under Brice de Germay's leadership and with the support of all the Advisory teams."

Marcus Zorn: A Pan-European Mandate Rooted in Germany

Marcus Zorn joined BNP Paribas Real Estate Germany in 1995 and built his career across multiple asset classes — including office advisory, investment, industrial services and retail services — and in major German cities including Hamburg and Düsseldorf. He was appointed Head of Transactions in 2010, promoted to Deputy CEO of BNP Paribas Real Estate Germany in 2012, and joined BNP Paribas Real Estate's International Executive Committee in 2016. He became CEO of BNP Paribas Real Estate Germany in 2021.

In his new role overseeing Advisory across Europe, Zorn will retain the Germany CEO position, giving him direct operational grounding in one of the continent's largest commercial real estate markets as he works to integrate the firm's cross-border capabilities.

"The quality of our teams and the breadth of our expertise across Europe give us unique strengths in supporting our clients," Zorn said. "I am honoured to build on the work undertaken in recent years. My priority will be to further strengthen synergies between our countries and give clients ever more seamless access to BNP Paribas Real Estate's best expertise, helping to enhance the performance of their projects."

Brice de Germay to Lead Advisory France

Brice de Germay joined BNP Paribas Real Estate in 2004 and held roles in residential block sales and owner-occupier sales in commercial real estate before moving to the Greater Paris office investment team in 2011. He subsequently served as Head of Capital Markets before being named Deputy CEO of BNP Paribas Real Estate Advisory France with effect from Jan. 1, 2026. France remains the firm's largest Advisory market, and the appointment is intended to preserve continuity of client relationships and sector expertise in that market.

Market Context: Advisory Gains Importance as European CRE Rebounds

The leadership changes come as European commercial real estate investment activity has moved off its post-pandemic lows. Total European commercial real estate investment over the twelve months through the end of June 2026 reached just over €187 billion, up roughly 10% year-on-year. Logistics investment volumes grew approximately 11% in 2025, returning near pre-crisis levels with close to €45 billion invested in industrial and logistics assets. Office investment on a rolling 12-month basis for 2025 reached €176.6 billion, with total commercial investment up about 9% versus 2024.

The recovery has been uneven across geographies and asset classes, with investors and occupiers increasingly seeking integrated, multi-country advice as they re-enter markets selectively. BNP Paribas Real Estate has framed the consolidation of its pan-European Advisory platform — and the leadership changes that accompany it — as a direct response to that demand.

"These governance changes are fully aligned with our ambition to provide clients with ever more integrated support across Europe, combining the proximity of our local teams, the depth of our service offering and the strength of our pan-European network," said Jean-Maxime Jouis, CEO of BNP Paribas Real Estate. "Through their complementary backgrounds and expertise, Marcus Zorn and Brice de Germay will play key roles in strengthening our Advisory business."
