Starlight Investments Closes Growth Fund IV, Targeting Acquisition of 10,000+ Canadian Multifamily Suites
TORONTO — Starlight Investments announced March 17 the successful closing of its Starlight Canadian Residential Growth Fund IV, the fourth vehicle in the firm's flagship Growth Fund series targeting Canadian multi-family real estate. The fund secured equity commitments enabling the acquisition of more than 10,000 rental suites across Canada's major markets.
Global Investor Base Backs Canadian Multifamily Fund
Growth Fund IV drew participation from institutional investors spanning Canada, the Asia-Pacific region, and Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The fund attracted substantial recommitments from existing limited partners alongside several new global investors in the commingled vehicle, according to the firm's announcement.
"The close of Growth Fund IV reflects continued confidence in Starlight's global experience, proven track record and performance in Canadian multi-family, as well as the long-term fundamentals supporting rental housing across the country," said Raj Mehta, President of Global Markets at Starlight Investments. "We appreciate the trust shown by both long-standing and new investors, and remain focused on delivering stable, long-term value through disciplined investment and active asset management."
Growth Fund Platform Strategy
Starlight's Growth Fund platform is centered on the acquisition, management and stewardship of high-quality, well-located rental properties in major Canadian cities. The firm describes the platform as operationally driven, delivering professionally managed rental communities intended to create long-term value for investors while enhancing the resident experience.
The company continues to broaden its global footprint, managing and investing on behalf of institutional partners across several continents. Starlight currently manages more than 70,000 multi-residential suites and over 7 million square feet of commercial property, with approximately CAD $30 billion in assets under management, according to the firm.
The Growth Fund IV closing marks the fourth iteration of the series. The firm has operated for more than three decades as a privately held owner, developer, and asset manager.
Investor Confidence in Canadian Rental Housing
Mehta cited "long-term fundamentals supporting rental housing across the country" as a key driver of investor confidence in the vehicle. The recommitment of existing limited partners alongside new global capital indicates the firm was able to retain and expand its institutional investor base for this fund cycle.
