Starlight Investments Completes First Phase of Build-to-Rent Community at The Waypoint in Maidenhead

Starlight Investments has announced the completion of the first phase of The Waypoint, a build-to-rent (BTR) community located within the St Cloud Way regeneration scheme in Maidenhead, Berkshire. The milestone delivers 73 new rental homes and marks a significant step toward the development's full build-out of 255 units across three residences, which the firm expects to complete later this year.
Phase 1 of The Waypoint Delivers 73 Homes
The first phase offers a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units featuring open-plan layouts and what the firm describes as elevated finishes. Once fully complete, The Waypoint will encompass nearly 20,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenity space, including a fitness center, co-working areas, private dining rooms, resident lounges, a rooftop terrace, and a landscaped courtyard.
The development also integrates sustainability features throughout its design, according to Starlight Investments.
"Completing the first phase at The Waypoint reflects our commitment to expanding high-quality build-to-rent housing in the UK and supporting communities where demand for professionally managed, modern rental homes continues to grow," said Jonnie Milich, Head of UK Residential at Starlight Investments. "Maidenhead's transport connectivity, economic strength and forward-looking regeneration plan make it an ideal location for long-term community building."
Location and Connectivity
The Waypoint is situated steps from the River Thames and within walking distance of Maidenhead's town center and main train station. The station provides Overground and Elizabeth Line services with journey times of approximately 35 minutes to central London, as well as connections across the wider Thames Valley region. Maidenhead sits within an established employment hub for technology, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing industries.
Resident Welcome and Community Vision
"As we begin to welcome the first residents to The Waypoint, we are proud to be delivering modern, well-connected homes that support the needs of today's renters," Milich added. "We look forward to fostering a vibrant community in a beautiful location as this scheme continues to take shape."
The property's name draws on themes of navigation and orientation, referencing Maidenhead's geographic position as a link between London and the Thames Valley. The Waypoint forms part of the broader St Cloud Way regeneration scheme, described by Starlight as one of the largest revitalization initiatives underway in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.
Starlight's UK Portfolio
The Waypoint completion represents incremental growth within Starlight Investments' UK BTR program. The Toronto-headquartered firm currently manages a UK residential portfolio of 4,000 homes with £1.1 billion in assets under management. Its UK geographic footprint spans major regional cities including Manchester, Liverpool, and Leeds, in addition to London Commuter Belt markets.
Globally, Starlight Investments manages more than 70,000 multi-residential suites and over 7 million square feet of commercial property, with approximately CAD $30 billion in assets under management across its real estate investment and asset management platform.
