Transwestern Expands Capital Markets Platform With National Debt and Equity Team Covering Multifamily, Office, Industrial and Retail Real Estate
HOUSTON — Transwestern has added a national debt and equity placement team to its Capital Markets platform, the firm announced June 4, 2026, bolstering its advisory capabilities across commercial real estate asset classes at a moment when a large wave of loan maturities is pressuring owners to find sophisticated financing solutions.
The group, which joins from Walker & Dunlop, is co-led by Executive Managing Directors Tom Melody and Tom Fish and brings experience spanning real estate acquisition financing, refinancings and development across multifamily real estate, industrial real estate, retail real estate, office real estate, hospitality real estate, healthcare and alternative property types.
Team Composition and Backgrounds
In addition to Tom Melody and Tom Fish, Transwestern welcomed Executive Managing Director Paul House; Senior Vice Presidents John Melody, Wes Wallace and Drew Van Norman; Vice President Hallie Caspary; Associate Ben Enos; and Administrative Assistant Tara Soyal. The team will be headquartered in Houston, where Transwestern is based.
The group maintains longstanding relationships with a broad range of capital providers, according to the firm. Their scope of services will span the full capital stack, including senior debt, mezzanine financing, preferred equity, participating loans and joint venture equity.
"Transwestern offers a rare balance of national scale and specialized local expertise, allowing us to operate with both breadth and precision," said Tom Melody. "We're excited to contribute our advisory experience and national investor and client relationships with a platform that truly supports collaboration, innovation and sustained growth."
Strategic Rationale: A Wave of CRE Loan Maturities
Transwestern framed the hire as a direct response to mounting refinancing pressure across the commercial real estate market.
"With a massive wave of commercial real estate loan maturities approaching, expert capital markets expertise has never been more critical," said Clint Bawcom, Houston Market Leader at Transwestern Services. "We are nationally focused on bringing institutional-quality advisory services to owners, buyers and users of commercial real estate."
Greg Munson, President of Transwestern Services, described the expansion as part of a broader effort to build durable advisory capabilities. "Strengthening our debt platform supercharges a capital markets environment where teams can perform at the highest level and deliver complete solutions to clients," Munson said.
Integration With Transwestern's Broader Platform
Transwestern said the new team will partner with its existing leasing, investment sales and development professionals to deliver integrated solutions. The group joins structured finance professionals already operating across Transwestern's national office network, which spans 35 locations.
Transwestern describes itself as a vertically integrated commercial real estate firm active in investment, development, brokerage and property management, with $64 billion in assets owned, leased and operated as of April 1, 2026, including assets managed through its RAUM platform.
The addition of a dedicated national debt and equity team positions Transwestern to compete more directly for mandates involving complex capital stack structuring across multifamily, office, industrial, retail and hospitality real estate.
